The Collaboration
Akarui™ (明るい) is a Japanese word meaning bright, light, cheerful, or illuminated. The name reflects the philosophy behind the object—bringing light, presence, and clarity to the spaces it inhabits.
Conceived as an exploration of how functional furniture can become architectural sculpture, Akarui transforms the everyday ritual of wine collecting into an immersive design experience. Designed for luxury residences, hospitality environments, restaurants, wineries, and curated commercial interiors, it elevates a practical necessity into a permanent architectural feature.
Every detail balances transparency, proportion, material contrast, and light. Precision-polished acrylic creates the illusion of bottles suspended in space, while a foundation of black volcanic rock grounds the piece with texture, permanence, and natural character.

Design Philosophy
